Former city of Enid employee speaks her mind
8/18/2005

As a former city employee for seven years, both in utility services and in the police department until 1997 when I became a self-employed business person myself. I am appalled at this obvious suppression of rights of the city workers. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Perhaps someone who moved away to a big city should return to Enid and show you people how to run a government and treat your employees fairly!

Why did you call off the election? Were you afraid that perhaps the workers would finally have the union they so richly deserve so they won't be jerked around by your "Old Boy" small-town city government anymore?

This is one reason why I moved from Enid - and the reason why the city has gone down the tubes (especially when Bill Gamble pulled his charades while in office.) The nice payment package you gave Mr. Gamble made Enid the laughingstock of the entire country and it was posted all over the Internet and beyond.

Where has common sense gone? Are you ready to come into the 21st century? I have to really wonder about that. Enid has so much potential and you have good people working for you in your city government; yet, you continue to treat them like children and disrespect their contributions.

You're not fooling anyone with these tactics. Keep pushing the people of Enid and eventually you will have a revolt. If you make Enid a veritable ghost town with an economy even worse then what it is, keep going. You're running what was once a charming town into the ground. I don't work for you people anymore, so I'm not afraid of telling you just like it is. What will you do ... fire me?
